Community Outreach
To help empower the local community, the Affiliate hosts annual educational events, including Worship in Pink Weekend,
participates in community health fairs and organizes a speaker's bureau to spread the message of breast health and drive
the breast cancer movement.
Worship in Pink Weekend
The next Worship in Pink Weekend is set for September 28 - 30, 2007. The weekend is a great opportunity to celebrate breast
cancer survivors and honor those who have lost the battle. Working with local churches, synagogues and mosques to educate
their members on breast health and breast cancer, Komen Atlanta provides breast health information packets to each
participating religious organization.
The program is easily tailored to individual needs and includes an informational message explaining the program, script
provided by Komen to be read during services, and a list of ideas to promote the event. Participating organizations
are encouraged to plan activities for the weekend, such as asking members to wear pink to commemorate the event, or
hosting a special luncheon for breast cancer survivors.
To register for Worship in Pink Weekend, please mail or fax the registration form, or contact
Ashley Skiles at 404-459-8700 or askiles@komenatlanta.org.
Community Health Fairs
Komen Atlanta is proud to participate in local health fairs, furthering our mission to educate the community on the vital
importance of early detection as a key to breast cancer survival, as well as providing up to date information to keep the
community informed and aware.
To inquire about having Komen Atlanta participate in your health fair, please contact Ashley Skiles at (404) 459-8700 or
askiles@komenatlanta.org.
